Trimester Three, Blog Seven (due 5/3 at midnight)
Share with your classmates the title and author of the book that you’re reading for your independent novel project. Then, explain why you chose this book and your reaction to it so far. “Your reaction” could include a brief discussion of the themes, plot, characters, ideas, etc. You could also give Nabokov a heart attack by explaining why you do or do not enjoy the book so far.

For the novel study, I am reading the book BoneMan's Daughters, written by Ted Dekker. Actually, I read the book, it was such a good book that I couldn't put it down. I chose this book because Ted Dekker is my favorite author and it was his newest book. The book is a very intense story about a father who is trying to save his daughter. An important theme of the book is evil. The boneman is all evil, trying to convince the world that they are evil. I would have to say that this is one of my favorite books because of the intensity and the way that I was drawn into the book and was able to react with the characters.
The book I am reading is The Grapes of Wrath. I chose this book off of the list because I have heard that is a classic, and I was curious what the title meant. The book is set in the dust-bowl era of the Midwestern United States. It gives the account of a family, the Joads, and their travels to California after their land was taken by the bank and used for cotton fields. Along the way they see hundreds of other families facing the same dilemma--leave the only home you've ever known, or have your house pushed over by a tractor.
The book I am reading is called "The Kings of New York." I have read many many sports books. Baseball, basketball, football, I've read a ton of these. However, I came across this in my dad's library and thought it would be interesting to read about a different kind of game- a game of wits. This has been an interesting book, so far, because the characters that take on the main plot are kids our age, if not younger, that are masterminds of this game. It is a total change of pace from the sports novels I usually read.
