Please respond to this blog written by Ben, Isaac, and Taylor:
We have had two presentations given over books. The discussions that were drawn from the excerpts seemd to be involved, and the class seemed to be interested as well. After this week's presentation, have you become interested in reading either novel on your own? If so, what caught your attention? If not, what reasons do you have for believing that you won't enjoy them?

I've already read the other novel we've done, but the one we just went over today seemed really interesting. I've looked at some of Bill Bryson's other books and he seems like a very interesting writer. I really like how relateable his writing is. Just from what we've read so far he must have lived a very fascinating life...As for the other novel we read, "Rebecca," you guys really should read it. And if you don't want to read it, at least watch the movie. Both are great, and the movie stays faithful to the plot for the most part. Not to mention it won a few Oscars.
I have also already read "Rebecca," and I agree with Kerry that it is a really really really good book, and the movie is fantastic too! In fact, the movie is what led me to read the book and after I read the book it was one that I absolutely had to own! As far as reading "The Thunderbolt Kid," I have wanted to read it for a while now and am just waiting on BEN to bring it to me. I am actually more excited to read the book now after reading the excerpts because they were hysterical!
Good job guys.
I have not read either of the books. While they both seem really interesting and I would not mind reading them, I probably never will. I think though, that the discussions were really helpful and helped to make the books more interesting. As it is, I have a list of books from my friends and cousin that I need to read before I pick up any more. Maybe someday when I have more time, although Im not sure if that day will ever come.
I believe they both sound fairly interesting. Kerry and Elysia's book sounds a bit more "knowledgeable," while the other group's seems more anecdotal. So depending on what type of reading mood I'm in, I would make my selection accordingly. The discussion that I was here for was really good, I thought the group did a nice job with incorporating our personal experiences with the novel they presented.
I do feel very intrigued by "Rebecca". It seems like a very compelling novel (not to mention Elysia and Kerry ardently worship the book). I'm not sure thus far on "The Thunderbolt Kid" the book does seem comical but I wonder what the real storyline is? I generally don't read a book purely for its comedic value, however coupled with an awesome plot, who knows?
